Broken link checker FAQ
What counts as a broken link?
A link whose target is genuinely gone or erroring. We follow each link your pages point to and flag the ones that return 404 Not Found, 410 Gone, or a 5xx server error. Links that simply block automated checks, such as some social networks, are not counted as broken, so you do not get false alarms.
Do I need to enter my email?
No. You can scan your site and see every broken link straight away, with no sign-up. We only ask for an email if you want the full report, including the other issues we spotted, sent to your inbox.
How many pages does it check?
The free checker crawls up to 150 pages on the same site, starting from the address you enter and following internal links. It checks every link it finds on those pages, including links out to other websites.
Why do broken links matter?
Broken links frustrate visitors, waste the crawl budget search engines spend on your site, and make a brand look unmaintained. Fixing them keeps people moving toward the pages that matter and protects your search rankings.
